Thaxtons Canoe

Thaxton’s Canoe Trails and Paddlers’ Inn Kentucky’s oldest family ran canoe and kayak rental would like to invite you and a group to a fun family and environmentally friendly nature-oriented experience. Enjoy a peaceful day in a boat floating on the Licking River! The Licking River is recognized by the Kentucky Division of Water as an outstanding water resource. Here you will find over 100 species of fish and over fifty species of mussels. Mussels serve to filter bacteria from the water and are protected on this pristine waterway that flows North. With your rental your group can rent the boats for the whole day or even complete the trip in a shorter time frame; either way you float back to your cars. Pack a lunch and cooler, proper clothing/footwear, and sunscreen. Make memories that will last a lifetime!

Located on the northwest side of the US 27 bridge on the banks of the Licking River, only an hour north of Lexington and just a half-hour south of Cincinnati our cabins are unique and relaxing. Our cedar cabins nestled above the Licking River offer a perfect opportunity for a romantic getaway or family holiday. In our quaint one room cabins enjoy the cozy comforts that includes a full-size bed, futon couch that folds out to a full-size bed, and a bunk bed single above it. AC, mini refrigerator, basic cable TV, restroom with shower, sink and microwave. On the covered deck there’s a gas grill and picnic table. Enjoy the property where our guests enjoy fishing, a warm campfire, swimming, or a pleasant walk on the riverbank. We offer tent campsites and primitive camping too.

Thaxton’s also offers Moonlight Trips a few times each summer under the full moon twilight. These guided six-mile trips allow for plenty of time to bask in the beauty of the full moon while floating quietly down the river for three to four hours through the middle of the night. A few pop-up special events are planned each paddling season including our most popular Tubing & Pizza! Like and follow our Facebook page, “Thaxton’s Canoe Trails and Paddlers’ Inn” to keep up to date on our events.
